Holy $EXPLATIVE, Batman!

05-08-05_1541, originally uploaded by thecat16.

Guess I'm gonna do a somewhat weekly update from now on since it seems that's the only kind of schedule I can sorta keep. Well, being that I'm still in school at the moment.

Last Wensday I gave my Two-Weeks Notice. Note the dash, that means that it is not necesarily two weeks long.
It's actually more like three weeks.
So to give a more defined date, June 4th would be my last day.

On Sunday afternoon I went to turn in my application to Fry's, and when I got to church (~30 minutes later), I realized that I had forgotten to include what I wished my hours to be.

Luckly I rest my faith in God.

He's never failed me.

No, seriously.

Oh, and as for the pic, I just dream of the day that it becomes reality.

Subway Detour

So I got sent on a subway run by the parental units.

Like always, there was a line.

Anyway, as I neered the end of the creation procedured of the two footlongs and I hear the voice of the person next in line.

At that point I'm thinking "That voice sounds familiar"

Sure enough it was the Homecoming Queen herself, Nicole.

Anyway, about an hour or so later (dunno if it was an hour and honestly, I could've cared less) my dad shows up across the parking lot and grabs my attention with a yell.

Talk about an interuption.

But to his defense, it was my fault. It was supposed to be a quick run.

But then again, I hadn't seen her in over a year.
Plus, I really do enjoy her company.

Best part is that she's just as boring as me and she still values my friendship.

...good friends make life tolerable. Especially when they're also cute. And hopefully she won't ask me to take this pic down like Buchannan did. =^.^=

SeaView - Tsukasa

SeaView - Tsukasa, originally uploaded by thecat16.

Nothing much happening these days other than being completely immersed in studying calc and working on my CS projects... and scoring 66 out of 96 due to stupid mistakes on my SQL midterm. Mistakes which were mostly due to queries that returned incomplete information. I really wanted to ditch for a day and not tell anyone and head to the beach. I find it relaxing to just stare out in to the ocean.

Luckly, what dampened the blow was getting a 92/100 on my CS Midterm and being told that my code was very clean. Also, having my code being used as an example cheered me up quite a bit.

Now if only I could raise my GPA above 3.0 so I could apply to the JPL internships...

Meh, guess I'll have to stick to the plan to join the Incompetent Tie Brigade that is Fry's Electronics during the summer.

It's a funny thing that no matter where I go (well, almost wherever) is that I'll get paid more than my current pay.

It's also facilitates my resignation.

05-02-05_1907 ~Death To Birdie

05-02-05_1907 ~Death To Birdie, originally uploaded by thecat16.

Today is a sad day. After finding a parking citation for not having put my parking permit up, I get home to discover that the first bird I caught, a blue Love Bird, is now no longer living. It died sometime between 3:00PM PST and 6:00PM PST.

The landlord was notified when he arrived.

He placed the blame on the green one since a peach-colored Love Bird was supposedly killed by him 4 years ago.

So yeah. First one of the four that have been captured is now the last one to have died.

04-24-05_1637 - Lots-o-Miles

04-24-05_1637 - Lots-o-Miles, originally uploaded by thecat16.

Well, it's been a while since I last wrote somehting. And this is after saying that I was gonna write something everyday.... which turned into every other day... which turned into every week.. and here we are. Over two weeks and here's a post!
Not much of interest has happened. Other than oficially registering my car under my name, getting the tires rotated, buying more manga, failing a calc test, being praised for having rather clean code, and realizing that the plans for swapping the engine in my car, currently a 4A-F, with a somewhat similar one, the 4A-GZE, are rather primitive an not as throught out as I thought.
The one I want to put in is the second generation of the engine found in the Toyota MR2 here in the States. It is supercharged, puts out about 170hp, and 155 lbs of torque.

So, yeah.
Imagining being able to keep up if not pass Civic SIs makes me giggle.

But such power doesn't come without a price.

I've read up on it and the swap has not been done cheaper than US$3,000. Not including the engine.

Not to mention I'll loose the AC and the power steering. Well, I could do without the power steering but not the AC so I'll have to look into doing this correctly.

I mean, I can wait. I'm not gonna get rid of the car. How many people like to get rid of their first car? I mean people that got attached to their first car, not the ones that don't give a rat's ass about them.

T-Mobile, Motorola And BlueTooth

03-21-05_1911, originally uploaded by thecat16.

Well, I came home last Monday round ten-ish. So I figure I'd transfer the pics I took during the day and write a short blog. Well, to my suprise, my phone kept saying "Service Not Supported".

I called T-Mobile immediately and talked to a Rep named 'Shane', who couldn't do squat so then I was transferred over a level up.

Next guy was named Preston. He put me on hold.

Preston then proceeded to give me Motorola's CS number and claimed they were open 24hrs since no closing time was annotated on the Phone Number Sheet. Motorola is open 8AM-10PM Central Time mind you.

So I called T-Mobile back and asked for Preston. I was told I would be transferred to his department but not directly to Preston.

After about 15-20 minutes (watching anime while I waited), I find out I reached the Data somethingorthudder Center.

Rep's number was 2744615. He seemed rather irritaded that I was calling. I calmed him down and told him my only reason for calling was so they could write down the times for Motorola's Live Customer Service.

-=The Next Day=-

I called Motorola at 2:33pm PST
Wait Time: ~2 minutes

Got a rep named Cecilia #351035. Talked with an Indian accent.

She transferred me to the Tech Department.

Rep Name: Aida
Rep Number: 4737

Reffered me to a place nearby that could help me out.

Place was called Cell-U-Phone. Their number is 323.727.9131.

Called them up and was told by them that they no longer do the Level 3 Tech Support for Motorola. The Tech then proceeded to advise me to call Motorola back and ask for the Level 3 Tech Support up in Sacramento.

Called Motorola again,
Rep name: Marcelo
Rep #: 351176

I BSed for a bit and he sent me over to Data Support.

I got disconnected at 3:12

3:14 I was back on queue

3:23 still on queue

3:24 they picked up
Rep Name: [did not catch name]
Rep #: 4725

Halfway through, at 3:28 I got hanged up on again. At this point I began to think it was the phone. I was using my mom's.

I called back.
Rep Name: Mary
Rep #: 351190

She was nice. She got me numbers

#1. 916 441 4668 Radio Shack
#2. 922 9347 Changed 916 928
6111 another radio shack
#3. 363 2300 Racho Cordba's Wireless Toys. Nice guy
#4. 649 9900 Circuit City...
#5. 922 4703 radio shack..

3:47 back to dealing with motorola
3:49 on queue

3:50 called back, I went for a different menu option.

3:53
Rep Name: Victoria
Rep #: 351140

3:55 Transfered to Software Support
expected wait time 8 minutes

Rep Name:Christian
Rep #:1026

He was nice. Slight tang of spanish accent in his voice

He gave me his direct line incase I got disconected.
877 331 6456
x2237

He advised reflashing the phone and then gave me the numbers to two places. One of which I already had.

Cellular Phone Reaper (repair?) Services
626 796 6446

I called them up and got their address.

150 E. Colorado Blvd #101
Pasadena, California.

--Today--
I decided to so the Security Updates and I saw that one had a BT update.

So I tried transferring a pic.

It worked.

I wasted 2 hours of my life. But then again, this could help someone else. So far noone has had this problem. I though it might have been T-Mobile's fault since they rolled out a voicemail update over the weekend and thought maybe that could have had something to do with it.

Meh, so I made a mistake.

HD?!? - I'm Not Talking About Video

*Click-whirr*

That's how my session in front of Neko-kun, my XP-Pro powered tower, started off.

Gah.

I never thought that would happen to me.

I really didn't imagine it ever happening at all.

My 8GB HD, the original HD from my Pac-Bell tower I scrapped a few years back, chugged along for 4.5 years before I stopped using it everyday. Not to mention the fact that it is currently loaded with Red Hat 9 and sitting unplugged in one of Neko-kun's drive bays as a somewhat failed server side-project. It still works.

Well, the drive I had named Otohime, after the sea princess in the Japanese folktale of Urashima Taro died after three days of hearing the *click*whirr*. I played a slight word game with the name. At first though, the Love Hina character Otohime Mutsumi comes to mind, since she is one of my favorite characters, whose last name is written 乙姫. But since I used it to store my music, among other things, I wrote it 音姫, i.e. "sound-princess"

But yeah. I will name its successor the same. I plan to buy a SATA drive. Preferably one over 200GB like my 250GB SATA named Urashima since I like the smallness of the cables. So much easier to handle than the IDEs.

Funny thing is that I had bought Otohime to temporarily replace my current main system drive (20GB) that had suffered a freak accident and locked the system out. I lost all of my high school work due to my idiot-ness of not being able to get the stuff decrypted. So it got reformated and its now my system drive.

But first I have to buy new tires. With this sudden rainy weather, I find that my tires do not have the grip necessary for taking the turns I normally take. My current tires are 14" Falken Ziex 512s. Mighty good tires I might add, but I've worn the outer section down to the point of no grip.

I was considering buying Kumhos maybe the ECSTA 711. Oh well. Only time will tell.
